Job Title: R & D Technician
SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to independently plan and perform research trials on stripping catalyst coated membranes using electrochemistry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
· Investigate the use of electrochemical methods to separate the catalysts from the membranes.
· Coordinate with electrocatalyst research and development team, to review the experimental analysis procedures & data
· Develop detailed lab scale process including order of addition, critical raw materials, processing parameters, lab scale preliminary specification and test results
· Record precise results and findings in laboratory book, database and/or files.
· Proactively seek and provide ideas to address technical issues
· Conduct design of experiments to optimize the testing process parameters.
· Create and maintain Process Flow and Standard Operating Procedures
· Follow safety guidelines for handling materials with the use of protective equipment as required.
· Work with chemical suppliers to find alternate supplies of existing chemicals and new chemicals for product development.
· Participate in best practice processes for R&D laboratory.
· Provide leadership, supervision and training as assigned by R&D Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Chemistry, Electrochemical Engineering, Materials science or related discipline with a focus on metal recovery by electrochemical or chemical processes, energy storage and conversion technologies.
· Hands-on work experience with electrochemical devices including materials characterization.
· Experience with electrochemical instrumentation and methods like RDE and electroplating.
· Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking and problem solving skills.
· Excellent oral and written communications skills required, including giving presentations.
· Self-motivated to work effectively with minimal direction and able to make decisions independently.
