Direct Support Professional:
Direct Support Professional is the direct provider of daily care and services in the residential care classification series. Incumbents function in a capacity to maintain security, safety, and to provide services in support of the Individual Program Plan.
Characteristics: Capable of supervising and counseling individuals in the programs as well as able to establish rapport with persons of differing ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. DSP staff must have good oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to maintain visual and auditory observation of client behaviors and actions. This individual should be able to demonstrate consistent initiative in providing services. The incumbent must be able to work in a frequently hostile, unpredictable, and unpleasant environment with a high degree of maturity, integrity, emotional stability and good judgment.
Responsibility and Duties: This is neither inclusive nor exclusive, but indicative of several types of duties performed such as: monitoring and ensuring security, safety, meal preparation, health and housekeeping standards are observed, supervise all activities involving clients and implement and assist in the development of activity schedule, advise clients on proper hygiene and program behavior protocols, assist in the development, implementations and evaluation of activities including counseling, supervise clients in the program and facility, and translate as required to serve agency needs.
Minimum Qualifications: DSP 1: Minimum one (1) year full-time supervision experience working with similar population staff 21 years of age cannot work alone until one year of work has been completed.

- Must have Valid Ca. Drivers License
- Must have Recent Health Screen and TB Test
- Must have CPR & First Aid Certified
- Must provide copy of DMV Driving Record
- Must provide a copy of Current Auto Insurance
