Portage Community School District is hiring a part-time school nurse for the 2024-2025 school year that may serve students early childhood through 12th grade population. This is a one-year position and will work 10 hours/week. This position will start in August 2024 and will end in June 2025.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, carrying out the district’s school nursing and health services programs: providing emergency nursing services during the school day and direct nursing management of health/illness needs of individuals during the school day within PCSD policies and procedures, compliance with Wisconsin immunization laws, and assisting individuals in obtaining appropriate health care services.
Minimally qualified applicants shall possess:
Current unrestricted Wisconsin license as a registered nurse under Wis. Stat. Ch. 441.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing, or an Associate degree in nursing with an approved public/community health theory course.
Experience working with children who have a variety of chronic and acute health conditions, such as, but not limited to type 1 diabetes, asthma, anaphylactic allergies, anxiety, seizure disorders, etc. for one year or more.
Familiarity with immunizations for the school-aged child.
Ability to work independently and utilize resources by phone.
Current Healthcare Provider/Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR with AED certification.
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Ability to follow the nursing process with integrity.
