The Service Manager plays a crucial role in merging the selling process with the service process to ensure a prompt, efficient, and enjoyable shopping experience for our customers. We are seeking a skilled individual with exceptional diagnostic abilities, strong communication skills, and proven leadership capabilities. This position requires overseeing a team of technicians, assigning and inspecting completed work, meeting production goals, and implementing sales strategies within the shop.
Essential Job Functions:
- Hire, train, and retain a competent team of Technicians dedicated to delivering outstanding customer service.
- Diagnose vehicles and recommend necessary repairs and maintenance to Service Advisors.
- Assign repair/work orders to Technicians based on their skill level and ensure timely completion to meet weekly goals.
- Lead customer service functions, safety procedures, inventory control, and employee paperwork.
- Assist in preparing customer repair estimates, ordering repair parts, and promoting sales of tires and accessories.
- Communicate effectively with customers, explaining technical issues and necessary repairs in layman's terms.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and attractive shop appearance and perform necessary maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with HR and Operating Policies, Procedures, and State/Federal regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels, order and receive supplies/parts, and handle returns to vendors.
- Test drive and inspect completed repairs and maintenance before delivery.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required: Standing, walking, bending, stretching.
- Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.
- Ability to enter/exit customer vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Own tools and scanners.
- Minimum 20 years of automotive diagnostic experience.
- Supervisory experience, including training and managing a team of automotive technicians.
