The Administrative Specialist position directly contributes to the mission and positively impacts citizens of Nebraska by efficiently managing financial transactions through processing payments, refunds and ensuring the availability of necessary resources by ordering supplies, assisting with monitoring licensees on probation, ensuring qualified professionals through the credentialing review process and delivering excellent customer support to address citizen inquiries and concerns.
Job Duties
The Administrative Specialist position is a vital component of the Public Health Licensure Unit Support Team. The position has a variety of responsibilities including processing various documents for payment including journal entries, inter-agency fund transfers, invoices, and expense reimbursement documents. In addition, the Administrative Specialist position coordinates on-boarding for new occupational license professional board members, supports the compliance monitoring of licensee's placed on discipline and assists with the credentialing review program. Additionally, the position assists with a high volume of daily mail processing, answering calls from customers, helps licensee's during renewal periods, orders office supplies and special orders as needed. The position is involved in the development of a new License Information System for the licensure of health care professions and performs a variety of special projects, tracking information and presentations.

Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Federal and State laws and regulations governing work assigned; office management and record keeping methods and practices; administrative report preparation practices; research and administrative survey techniques; work planning and organizing; business computer and communication systems.
Skill in: operation and maintenance of computer equipment and other office machines; using a variety of advisory and statistical data such as technical operating manuals, policies, procedures, financial and budgetary reports; prioritizing/organizing work; data analysis and problem solving.
Ability to: interact with immediate supervisor and senior managers, employees, and the public to gain their cooperation and to establish work relationships; formulate and recommend modifications to operational directives to attain agency goals; apply management practices, techniques, and methodologies to assigned activities; collect, assemble, and analyze facts and draw conclusions to recommend solutions to problems; identify and interpret program-administrative requirements, policies, and regulations to provide guidance and advice; organize and present facts and opinions to managers and groups; learn the structure, functions, goals, and policies of the employing agency.
