Description:
The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients on the phone and at the front desk, as well as making appointments, referrals, and typing documents and letters as necessary. The Receptionist operates under the direct supervision of the office manager and is responsible for performing duties in a professional and polite manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet patients and families at the front desk upon entering the office
- Answer live phone calls and transfer to other care team members as appropriate
- Receive and respond to messages via voicemail and Patient Gateway for urgent and non-urgent appointments
- Accept cash, check and credit card payments due at time of visit
- Sort mail and faxed documentation and distribute to other care team members
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information
- Notify nurse of patients who walk into office, as well as patients who may need to be urgently triaged
- Maintain provider schedules
- Typing, photocopying and other maintenance of documents as necessary
- Facilitate urgent referrals for specialists, imaging, etc.
- Monitor waiting room and reception area and notify nurse of MA of suspected issues related to infection control
- Communicate other identified patient/family needs to other members of the care team
Requirements:OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication, excellent organization
- Ability to work independently as well as function as part of the care team
- Ability to handle sensitive medical information/HIPAA compliance
- Working knowledge of EMR, Microsoft office and email
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.
Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include lifting of supplies,
equipment, or babies and small children; extensive bending, standing, walking or sitting
may be required.
Ability to deal effectively with stress.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- This position will rotate between Beverly and Salem locations.
Full Time - Monday - Friday, 9-5:30
