Position Overview
The Family Minister will be responsible for partnering with our Associate Minister to develop, lead, and implement a vibrant children, youth, young adult, and family ministry consistent with the progressive Christian values of University Christian Church. Some areas of responsibility include coordinating/teaching Worship and Wonder and nursery care; assisting with SD United Youth Group; participating in youth service-learning trips; helping with the Young Adult Group; building community between young families; and nurturing the faith of children, youth, young adults, and young families
Essential Functions
- Assist in the development, supervision, and implementation of programs, service-learning trips, and activities suitable for children from nursery to 12th grades
- Identify opportunities for outreach to families with children in San Diego
- Lead our Worship & Wonder Program
- Identify and train adult volunteers to help run and supervise children and youth activities and programs
- Coordinate service-learning trip fundraising activities
- Act as a communication liaison between parents, children, the ministry staff, and UCC congregational leadership
- Plan and implement outreach activities to Hillcrest Preschool
- Innovate and implement new programs and activities for children, youth, and their parents to grow in their faith journey
- Coordinate fellowship activities for families
- Perform other duties as directed

- Possess a fundamental understanding of spiritual development in children and youth; and, how to assist parents with their children’s spiritual growth and faith

- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a passion for working with children, youth, parents and young adults
- Demonstrate sound decision-making, counseling, and referral skills for children, youth, or parents in need
- Willingness to work variable hours based on program and activity needs
- Ability to recruit, train, support, coordinate, and motivate volunteers
- Demonstrate organization and communication skills necessary for the effective administration of the position
- Ability to balance having fun with seriousness, safety, and maintaining order, according to the needs of the meeting, event, activity or program
- Ability to build a team of volunteers and take program in a unified direction
Performance Evaluation
This position is a part of our growing ministry team. All responsibilities of this position are to be carried out with the support and supervision of the Associate Minister. Performance will be reviewed annually by the Associate Minister and the Personnel Committee.

Compensation
- 10 hours/week, including weekly worship service attendance (Sunday)
- Up to $25/hr

Pay: $22.50 - $25.00 per hour
