The purpose of this position is to provide new product development engineering support in Complete Vehicle (CV). In this role, the Test Engineer provides professional expertise within a formal engineering process to support product development deliveries and key stakeholders. During the verification and validation process, the test engineer coordinates and performs engineering tasks of varying complexity through interpretation of engineering principles, theories and concepts and clearly communicates/formally documents results and conclusions with all stakeholders.

Product support through the planning, development, scheduling and execution of project verification and validation engineering activities of varying scale and complexity.

Provides technical guidance and direction to design engineers and technicians based on verification and validation expertise

Prepares and communicates testing cost estimations for assigned testing

Make decisions on types of testing, specify test procedures, instrumentation and hardware used in the testing of designs.

Responsible for performing data analysis to support testing conclusions, which are to be documented through engineering reports
Core Responsible Areas:
-
Outsourced Braking Performance Testing: Manage the coordination, execution, and results for brake performance testing with external test suppliers. Role will be a liaison between Test Supplier and the client.

Articulation Testing: Perform suspension articulation testing to evaluate impacts of design and packaging changes to the complete vehicle

Vehicle Weight Studies: Perform weight studies on vehicles to measure the impacts of new components to the total system

Water Tightness Testing: Evaluate design changes or field issues by testing complete vehicle water tightness testing

Misc Vehicle Testing/Measurements: Smaller scale test setups that will require knowledge of basic principles of instrumentation and data collection.

Support coordination of other outsourced testing requests
Support/Exposure Areas:
-
Support system functionality verification testing alongside other Test Engineers in the following areas (as necessary, not core responsibilities): Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH), Vehicles Dynamics (Handling, Braking, Ride), Cooling Performance, and Fuel Economy
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering field

1-3 yrs of experience, automotive preferred

Previous exposure to data acquisition equipment and data processing/analysis

Great communicator (important for the outsourced coordination aspect of the job to keep everyone informed and aligned)

Positive attitude and desire to learn and take on new tasks (self-learner)

Enjoys hand-on work

Preferred Baja or Formula SAE experience from college
