Job Description:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the accounting procedures are implemented and adhered to as required. This role requires knowledge of GAAP and superior analytical abilities, and is a hands-on working manager that will partner with operational leaders, corporate staff and other professionals.
This position will manage and train team members to further the growth and development of the department, and offers an interesting variety of projects and ample opportunity for professional growth and development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with financial teams and other business units to complete projects and process changes
- Manage 2-3 financial accountants
- Approves accounting journal entries and reviews account reconciliations
- Responsible for facilitating, reviewing, and presenting the monthly financial statements
- Assist with year-end audit and review income tax return support
- Manage balance sheet accruals and income statement analysis
- Strong communication skills to work with the operational business units and other finance team members for a better understanding of financial data
- Ensures processes and procedures follow company policies
- Supports the training and development of other staff
- Special projects as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience compiling and reviewing financial statements
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret financial results and data
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with levels of management
- Demonstrated decision making, critical thinking, and analytics skills
- Must possess strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organized and able to manage time and multiple tasks wisely
- Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues
- Ability to work independently in a pro-active manner, or within a team environment
- Demonstrated professional growth
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead projects
- Proven ability to effectively transfer knowledge to build cross functional team competence
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in private or public accounting. Has prepared financial statements, manufacturing exposure and has managed employees in private or public accounting.
Systems: Intermediate MS Excel user. Experience with Oracle, SAP or similar operating systems.
