Job Summary:
Our start up business is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Counselor to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to be immersed in an authentic supportive home community for single mothers who are looking to break cycles and improve their relationships resulting in lasting change for themselves and their families.
The Residential Counselor is responsible for providing high-quality care and support to single mothers and their families (children and loved ones) in a residential setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in counseling, group home, or psychiatric in patient care and working with people experiencing trauma. What You'll Do:
In this position, you will work within a small residential program. You will provide individual, group, and family therapy to a caseload of five to eight residents. The clinician is an integral member of the resident’s treatment team and is also responsible for the development of interdisciplinary treatment plans, as well as all case documentation. You will be expected to maintain professionalism and work alongside the program director and as needed with other agencies
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to women, families and children experiencing displacement and/or family trauma.
- Develop and implement individualized success plans that meet the unique needs and goals of each resident.
- Manage behavioral challenges and develop strategies to promote a safe and positive living environment.
- Provide psychoeducational opportunities for residents and community members in response to demonstrated needs.
- Support residents with conflict resolution by engaging them in activities that promote executive functioning, emotional regulation, self-awareness (metacognition and mindfulness).
- Maintain accurate records of resident care and communicate effectively with program director, family members, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of a supportive and inclusive community.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with individuals with childhood trauma in an educational or residential setting.
- Years of application and knowledge of counseling best practices and strategies.
- Strong communication skills and ability to balance self-care with work.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Valid credentials for billing insurance.
- Experience with dementia care and behavioral management is highly desirable.
Requirements:
- Must be (A) a licensed physician certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, (B) a licensed psychologist, (C) a licensed advanced practice registered nurse certified as a clinical specialist in adult psychiatric and mental health nursing with the American Nurses Credentialing Center, (D) a licensed marital and family therapist, (E) a licensed clinical social worker, or (F) a licensed professional counselor.
