Front Office Floater & MA - Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and organized floater to join our team. As a floater you will be trained in all areas of our office and will be expected to perform well in any position.
In this role, you will work directly with healthcare practice staff to answer phones, maintain patient records, schedule patients, verify insurances and get authorizations, assist the office manager with various tasks, and assist in basic examinations under the direction of the licensed healthcare provider.
Front office Assistant Floater Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer multi-line phones and either direct the caller to the appropriate party or handle the caller’s needs yourself
- Call patients to remind them of upcoming appointments
- Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary
- Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on Physician availability
- Register new patients and update necessary records
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient records
- Process payments from patients for co-pays and uninsured visits
- Take basic vitals.
- Assist the physician with examinations of each patient.
- Verify insurance benefits for each patient and obtain prior authorizations.
- Authorize DME, surgeries, or any orders with the insurance company.
- Help print off faxes, send out DME, medical records, referrals, and prosites request.
- Uphold the positive reputation of our medical office by always treating visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and compassionate manner
Medical Office Floater Requirements and Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience as Medical receptionist or Medical Assistant in a relevant role.
- Basic understanding of insurance.
- Experience with any EMR (electronic medical record) system.
- Friendly, professional, and compassionate disposition
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Dedication to maintaining the confidentiality of all patient records
