DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Preschool Director, responsible for the general supervision and management of a class of 25-30 children between the ages of two and five.
EXPECTATION: A Preschool Lead Teacher is a Christian by affirmation and example and supports the mission and vision of Christ Lutheran Church Ministries (CLCM). An active member of CLCM is preferred. Must have an affinity for young children. Confidentiality will be respected.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Has knowledge of and complies with Title 22 requirements and mandated reporter requirements.
- Plans, supervises, and implements the program for the class in accordance with the school's policies and philosophy as stated in the CLCM personnel handbook.
- Treats children with dignity and respect in relation to their individual style and needs.
- Assists with planning curriculum for the assigned classroom.
- Is responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom.
- Performs annual assessments and assembles a yearly portfolio of each student's work in the assigned classroom.
- Assumes an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities.
- Assists as needed with students’ toileting and hand washing needs.
- Attends all staff meetings.
- Attends one professional growth event each year.
- Implements methods for effectively using the services of classroom assistants and volunteers.
- Establishes positive relationships with parents of the students and fellow staff members.
- Conducts parent conferences on students’ school adjustment and classroom behavior.
- Attends after-hours events and programs and assists with planning as requested.
- Sets and completes measurable annual goals.
- Performs related duties as assigned by the Preschool Director.
EDUCATION MINIMUM: 24 Early Childhood Education units and licensed by the State of California as a Preschool Teacher.
EXPERIENCE MINIMUM: 2 years progressively responsible experience as an Early Childhood Teacher.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Leadership, conflict resolution, diplomacy, and flexibility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to lift up to 40 lbs., twist, bend, reach, push and pull. May be required to sit on the floor, kneel, or crawl. May be required to stand and supervise children indoors and outdoors. Must have adequate speech, vision, and hearing.
