Michigan Center for Oral Surgery (MCOS) is seeking a full time Clinical Assistant, with leadership experience. The ability to multitask, understand emotional intelligence and work as a team member is vital.
Our practice is thriving because of the excellent customer service our team provides. The Clinical Assistant identifies patient and referring office needs and goes above and beyond to ensure the best experience with MCOS!
Our clinical staff member is a key member of the team. The right candidate is well-spoken, motivated, and friendly. This individual is well versed on the doctor’s biography and training, credentialing, and surgical capabilities. The Clinical Assistant is organized, knowledgeable about the scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, and familiar with Michigan Center for Oral Surgery’s mission, vision, values, and operating procedures.
Main job functions:
- Know and understand all surgical procedures and sequences
- Know and understand implant systems and instruments associated with surgical procedures
- Anticipate the doctor's needs
- Recognize a medical emergency and understand what to do
- Understand sedation and associated equipment
- Maintain clean and organized operatories, sterilization area, and laboratory
- Oversee maintenance of operatories, surgical equipment, and laboratory equipment
- Schedule necessary equipment maintenance
- Tracking of laboratory cases
- Supply inventory and ordering
- Make radiographs, optical impression or 3D scan
- Make impressions and recognize anatomical landmarks needed
- Properly sterilize surgical equipment
- Enter treatment plans
- Draft consent forms and ensure that they are signed by the patient prior to surgery
- Assist with answering phones as necessary
- Encourage and maintain good relationships with patients and patient escorts
- Late-afternoon checkup calls to sedation patients from the morning
- Read and understand the employee handbook and manual for quality assurance
- Pass the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination when required
- Other duties as deemed necessary
