Job Title: Head Chef
Company: Seasons ATX is a local and sustainable meal delivery service that is quickly becoming known as “Austin’s most nutrient-dense meal service.” All of our meals are locally sourced with premium ingredients for optimal health and flavor. We serve our meals in reusable glass jars and deliver them directly to customers’ doors in a subscription service. We had a successful launch and gained the traction needed to raise a round of investment to scale our business throughout Austin and likely beyond. Our long-term goals include opening storefronts and starting a large regenerative farm. We are searching for a Head Chef to design our seasonal recipes, run our meal production, and help us grow our kitchen for the long-term. Our current chef will support your transition as she transitions to Garde Manger where she will lead the product-line / add-on item aspect of our kitchen (desserts, granolas, sauces, etc.).
Job Description: We are seeking an innovative, experienced, and driven chef to lead our kitchen. Seasons ATX prides itself on choosing 100% food integrity. Our ideal candidate lives and breathes the values of health and wellness through the lens of food. They are immersed in the worlds of conscious eating, food systems, and environmental sustainability. They can conduct a minimal waste kitchen - meaning they constantly look for ways to use the whole animal or plant and extract nutrients to be made into additional products or further enhance the current dishes (e.g. rendering tallow, making broths, using scrap foods, etc.). They enjoy working with fresh herbs and are able to enhance the natural flavors of nutrient dense foods without using excessive salts, oils, or dried seasonings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design local and seasonal dishes that fit into 24 ounce jars, with optional 16 and 4 ounce jars to be used as side dishes, sauces, garnishes, etc.
- Manage the production of all meals, including sourcing, ordering, prepping, and cooking.
- Monitor food costs and work within budgetary guidelines
- Nurture relationships with local farmers.
- Support and train additional line cooks as needed.
- Communicate the story of the dishes to be featured on social media and in our weekly newsletter, titled Seasons Greetings.
- Work with our Garde Manger to support production of our add-on products.
- Occasionally cook for specialty events and seasonal gatherings.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience producing large quantities of food in commercial settings.
- A strong desire to consistently develop new and innovative recipes.
- Experience and interest in working innovatively with both plant and animal products.
- An ability to lift 30-40 pounds.
- An entrepreneurial spirit with an interest in building a values-driven kitchen.
- Food Manager Certification
Compensation: We are prepared to offer our ideal candidate a full time salary with a possible path to equity ownership. Our full time salary starts at $50,000 with the opportunity to earn equity over time, starting after the first 3 months of employment to ensure ideal role fit. A significant salary increase can be expected after year one.
