Job Description – Household Manager/Nanny
Compensation/Schedule
· $25-$27/hr, depending on experience
· Working Hours: M-F, 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Job Summary
We are parents of two young children (4 and 7 years old), and we each work full-time jobs. There is lots of love in our house, and we treat every day as an opportunity. We celebrate achievement and enjoy living in a neat and orderly household, but we need help and are searching for a Household Manager who will care for our children and maintain a sense of peace to our fast-paced lifestyle.
In addition to the child care responsibilities after school, the Household Manager will operate the day-to-day responsibilities of our household, which may vary from basic tasks like running errands to performing online research, interfacing with insurance companies, contractors, and vendors. We also may need administrative support for our small business that we manage in addition to our traditional jobs.
Qualifications
· Punctual, reliable, and flexible
· Willing to drive to our residence in the Scottsdale Mountain area (136th St./Shea) and arrive for work by 10:00 a.m. each morning
· Prior child care experience
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel)
· Valid drivers license and U.S. citizen
· 3 Professional References
Household Manager Responsibilities
Management and oversight of the day-to-day operation of the household, including, but not limited to:
· Light housekeeping/cleaning (e.g., wiping down counters, maintenance/mess cleanup, fluffing couch cushions, tidying the play area, washing dishes, empty dishwasher daily, take out trash/recycling when needed, clean up after the kids and yourself, getting the mail, leave the area cleaner than when you found it, unload/store groceries from Shipt/Insta-Cart, etc.)
· Loading/unloading dishwasher
· Manage/pay household employees/contractors
· Organizing kids’ toys
· Automobile-related tasks (e.g., fill up gas, drive-thru car washes, maintenance/service appointments, etc.)
· Runs to Goodwill
· Managing kids’ clothes (e.g., donating/shipping outgrown clothes, organizing closets/drawers)
· Organizing pantry
· Updating/Tracking Emergency Supplies in Pantry
· Organizing/cleaning out fridge
· Getting mail
· Groceries/Household Shopping (grocery store trips, updating grocery lists, managing item levels, and placing/tracking online orders)
· Basic/routine household maintenance/chores (e.g., change AC filters, running washing machine self-clean cycle)
· Schedule family Dr. appointments
· Assist/plan kids’ b-day parties
· Calls w/ insurance company, deductible calculations, check benefits, review EOBs, negotiate w/ providers
· Disputing invalid charges with credit card companies
· Interfacing with contractors and vendors on payment issues
· Shop/order gifts – Friends/Family
· Order CPAP supplies
· Plan/schedule family activities
· Create/manage family calendar
· Manage/Track medical supplies shipments
· Online research: service providers
· Compare rates: auto/home/umbrella insurance
· Communicate w/ banks re: new accounts, maintenance, forms, etc.
· Organize/manage personal photos
· Selling used items on eBay
· Making beds
· Family projects, including online research/orders (e.g., archival photo albums, b-day books)
· Doggie maintenance (e.g., let him out once/day) and scheduling and transporting dog to/from vet/grooming appointments
· Shipping and returns
· Miscellaneous errands (e.g., prescription pickup)
· Miscellaneous personal and business administrative tasks (e.g., calendaring appointments)
· Miscellaneous, non-recurring projects (e.g., organizing garage, holiday decorations, minor home re-decorating projects, etc.)
Nanny Responsibilities
You will provide child care for our two children, including meals, bathing, and other tasks related to their safety and supervision. Responsibilities also include the following:
· Picking up kids from school
· Driving to swim lessons, gymnastics, and other after-school activities (e.g., free activities at the local library, park visits, zoo, aquarium, music class)
· Creating and communicating weekly plans for activities, including daily activities outside of the home
· Scheduling and coordinating activities or appointments for both children
· Preparing healthy and nutritious meals and snacks daily Scheduling meet ups and playdates with the kids’ friends
· Providing regular and frequent updates throughout the day, including sending pictures via text message
· Reading, understanding, and becoming familiar with our Family Emergency Communication Plan, which outlines the steps to be taken in the event of an emergency
· Understanding and implementing our discipline plan and methodology, which we will discuss with you in greater detail after your start date
· Introducing both kids to new and healthy age-appropriate educational experiences, active exercise, and learning opportunities, all on a daily basis
· Being affectionate and warm with both kids and attentive to their needs
· Playing with both kids, arts and crafts, reading books, and keeping them actively engaged
· Daily baths for both kids
· Taking appropriate measures to prevent our children from damaging our household items
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
