SALES ASSOCIATE
The Sales Associate at Petersen’s Hardware will maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise product, own assigned departments and support the management team. The Sales Associate will be accountable for maintaining a good company image and respectfully representing Petersen's Hardware's through attitude, appearance and interest in the profitability of the store. We are looking for a motivated, responsible and proactive team member.
RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Greet all customers and answer questions about merchandise. Utilize the ACE S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their list either in-store, on acehardware.com or with a special order.
- Engage the customer to ensure they are receiving all the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seeking participation in the program.
- Maintain familiarity with Ace advertisements, rebates and special pricing
- Report pricing errors to management.
- Follow Petersen's Hardware policies and procedures for all transactions.
- Perform store services including, but not limited to: Color matching, mixing paint, filling propane, cutting keys, screen repair and pipe cutting.
- Receive, open and unpack cartons or crates of merchandise. Replenish stock on the sales floor. Display, stock and maintain merchandise on end caps, shelves and counters, building displays when necessary.
- Have awareness of surroundings, customers, etc. and practice loss prevention techniques to prevent shoplifting.
- Knowledge of the tools necessary to operate the store; including, but not limited to: Epicor POS, Zebra Mobile Device, Paint Dispenser and Shakers.
- Follow the nightly maintenance checklist at close to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
- Participate in periodic team meetings.
- Prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
- Petersen’s Hardware/Ace attire (t-shirt, sweatshirt, vest) must be worn every day.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
- Prefer minimum 6 months related experience and/or training, especially with AceNet, Epicor POS and AWOR.
- Ability to speak with customers, team members and Management.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- The Associate is regularly required to walk, go up and down stairs, handle objects, tools, or equipment, talk and hear. The Associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders and stand and reach with hands and arms. The Associate must regularly lift and/or move 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
