Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Reports to: Plant Manager
Location: Lebanon, NJ
Compensation: $45,000 – $90,000 depending on experience
Role Overview:
We are looking for a full-time Quality Assurance Technician experienced in food manufacturing.
This role is critical to our team’s success in establishing the best-in-class food safety programs.
As a QA Technician, you will ensure a product or service meets the established standards of quality control including reliability, usability, and performance.
Responsibilities:
Monitoring
- Monitor and administer sampling procedures for recording and reporting quality data, including swabbing and care of sterile sampling.
- Monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished product quality as directed by the manager. Ensure all calibrations on equipment are maintained and up to date.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality checks, SQF (GFSI), GMP Standards, and sanitation schedules with assistance from the Manufacturing Manager and Leads.
- Observe habits and work of the production team and communicate feedback effectively.
- Establish and implement quality assurance policies and procedures, suggest continuous improvements, and assist the Plant Manager with 6S methodology and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements around Good Manufacturing Practices.
Documenting
- Assist in documenting internal audits and other quality assurance programs
- Collect and compile statistical quality data
- Contribute to the document management systems
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement
- Prepare QA reports
- Print customer-specific labels and perform label reconciliation and verifications
- Implement documentation and work with consultants to ensure documentation is ready for audit.
Collaborating
- Develop, recommend, and monitor preventative and corrective actions
- Maintain all internal and external KPIs
- Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues; assist in corrective actions as needed
- Coordinate and support tasks and program building for team on-site audits
- Meet weekly with managers, consultants, and team to align on direction and communication
Qualifications:
- Proficient in both written and verbal communication, Spanish is helpful but not required
- Knowledge of tools, concepts, and methodologies of QA
- Swabbing and care of sterile sampling
- Knowledge of quality monitoring and testing in food manufacturing
- Experience with the implementation of corrective action programs
- Ability to manage personnel and work with managers, team members, and leadership on timelines, efficiencies within work hours, and deadlines of all personnel
- Bachelor's degree, and or relevant industry experience
- Be willing to continue certifications as part of your job description; HACCP, PCQI, SQF, and GMP Standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proactive and detail-oriented with a strong initiative
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced work environment
- Previous hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing setting is advantageous
- Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills; effective team player with the ability to work independently as needed
- Interest in the packaged natural foods industry
- Adept at anticipating needs and managing shifting priorities
- Passion for and knowledgeable about health/wellness/fitness desired
