A general contractor in the context of roofing and other exterior construction projects is responsible for facilitating the construction process from start to finish. Their primary role is to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Here's a general job description for a general contractor superintendent:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, such as business owners, sales representatives, quality control and subcontractors, to develop a comprehensive project plan.
- Coordinate with the logistics team to schedule construction activities, including material deliveries, subcontractor work, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and permits.
On-Site Supervision:
- Manage day-to-day construction operations on-site, including directing subcontractors, laborers, and suppliers.
- Monitor progress, track work schedules, and ensure adherence to project timelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality of work, safety protocols, and compliance with project specifications.
Resource Management:
- Manage and allocate resources effectively, including labor, equipment, and materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Maintain inventory of construction materials and equipment, and place orders as needed.
Quality Control:
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure workmanship meets project requirements.
- Conduct inspections to identify defects, deficiencies, or deviations from project plans.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and tradespeople to address and resolve any issues that arise during construction.
Health and Safety:
- Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations on the construction site.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
- Take appropriate action to address any safety concerns promptly.
Communication and Reporting:
- Act as the primary point of contact between project stakeholders, subcontractors, and the construction team.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, milestones, and any issues or delays that may arise.
- Prepare and submit reports, including progress reports, safety reports, and budget updates.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Monitor project costs and expenses, ensuring adherence to the budget.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose alternative solutions when necessary.
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices and change orders.
Client Relations:
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing their concerns and providing regular project updates.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering a high-quality finished product that meets their expectations.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $104,000 plus commission.
- $104,000 base salary plus uncapped commission.
Experience level:
