The frequency will be an average of 10 days per month depending on the situation of your job duties.
Salary:
$80,000/year + bonus (10% of Salary ± company/your performance)

Job Overview
Assistant Manager is responsible for managing the sales and business development for specialty chemicals in the U.S., Canada and Mexico in order to maximize the sales and profit of the Americas in accordance with our HQ’s global Sales strategy located in Japan, Tokyo.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Manages Customer Relationships
- reviewing and evaluating sales and marketing plans for key products
- maintaining close communication with key customer management and sales and marketing staff to build strong, long-lasting customer relationships
- monitoring sales performance and gaining real time market knowledge
- ensuring smooth ordering and product fulfillment
- determining the causes of and resolving issues in a timely manner
- providing clear understanding and communication to the US-based Japanese specialty chemicals staff and to affiliates
2. Leads in Identifying and Selecting New customers to Expand Business in the United States and Canada
- designing and implementing strategic business plans for potential new business
- adhering to instructions from our HQ in Japan to grow polymer business (Polybutadiene, Styrene derivatives etc.,), Functional chemicals business (Isocyanate, Organic Titanium etc.,), and Sodium businesses
- identifying potential future distributors
- holding meetings to determine the best candidate for our new products
- negotiating key contracts and agreements
- executing all necessary agreements to begin the business
- advising Senior Management on needed actions
3. Manages Marketing and Sales Strategies
- preparing marketing and sales strategies for existing and future candidate products in development by our HQ in Japan
- reviewing publications and trade journals
- communicating with suppliers and customers to determine what is occurring in key markets
- attending key trade shows and conferences to obtain updated market information and to represent our company
4. Participates in Corporate Budgetary Process
- preparing the yearly sales budget for our specialty chemicals business
- determining yearly production, sales and inventory levels to determine future sales opportunities
- ensuring adequate purchase and production occurs to meet future market demands
- managing costs and increasing revenues
- assessing year-end budgetary results
- by advising Senior Management on needed actions
5. Supports sales administration and logistics functions
- sharing with logistics coordinators customer information, supplier invoices, prices, contracts (cost control), special shipping requirements, and any other information needed to ensure on-time shipments and accurate deliveries
6. Maintains Professional and Technical Knowledge to ensure proper handling of new products.
7. Complies with Federal, State/Provincial, and Local Laws and Regulations Requirements related to the specialty chemical products
- studying existing and new regulations; adhering to requirements
- ensuring compliance
- monitors and analyzes relevant regulatory and product-related information and provides notification to management of the possible impact to the Company's business
Secondary Job Functions :
1. Keeps Management Informed
- submitting weekly reports
- participating in meetings; and by reporting problems to Senior Management verbally or in writing in order to avoid confusion and further problems
- by recommending changes for improvements in the Company's functions to Senior Management
2. Train Staff
- providing market knowledge to our specialty chemicals staff
- training Staff when necessary on the detailed workings of the US and Canadian specialty chemicals business, consisting of both detailed distribution and customer knowledge as well as the detailed market review of products and past that comprise our products for the US market
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities, but may include involvement in the hiring, interviewing candidates; training employees; and serving as a coach or mentor for other employees within the organization as needed.
About You
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
- at least 2-3 years of working experience in sales/technical sales in the CHEMICAL INDUSTRY are required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or university in chemical science/engineering are required
- Experience in the business related to sodium metal and/or polymer preferred
Language Skills (English) :
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, forms and instructions.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively respond to questions from Management, Staff, clients, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups.
- Ability to apply knowledge and sense of understanding to carry-out detailed written or oral instructions.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and to draw and interpret data, statistics, and graphs.
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and ability to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Must have excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Must have supervisory skills and management experience.
- Must be able to work in a cross-cultural environment.
Other Qualifications:
- Must have Knowledge of logistics for chemicals products such as import/export, custom regulation and warehousing (Experience of handing hazmat chemicals preferred)
- Must have Knowledge of business practice and law in chemical industry
- Must be able to be on-call as necessary during emergencies.
- Must have driver's license (no need your vehicle)
Business Trip:
- Must be able to travel domestically or internationally for business and work beyond normal business hours when necessary.
