Summary of Position: Lawrence Public Schools BCBAs will provide consultation to staff to support students at the elementary or secondary levels, through tiered systems of support (MTSS, RTII, PBIS) within the general education setting. BCBAs will ensure that students within a target school are supported to access greater opportunities within their grade level general education environment through the assessment of needs and prescription of behaviorally based teaching and learning practices in collaboration with the teachers, staff, and related service providers. This position requires assessment of student needs, data collection systems, monitoring progress toward skill attainment, making necessary adjustments and revisions to programming based on data collected by the classroom team and will support the ultimate goal of capacity building across all staff members. BCBAs will also work collaboratively with the school teams to develop classroom-wide behavior management systems to ensure students have access to the supports and tools necessary for increased opportunities in the inclusive setting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILL SET
- Provide consultation to staff at the elementary or secondary levels, through tiered systems of support (MTSS, RTII, PBIS) within the general education setting and through the IEP process.
- Provide continued review and refinement of behavior supporting plan programming in order to meet student needs within the general education setting.
- Conduct initial and ongoing staff training for the purpose of building capacity amongst staff members.
- Collect and analyze data and prepare a variety of reports for the purpose of documenting case history, assessments, and treatment needs.
- Assist with behavioral crisis situations: modeling interventions, staff training, crisis plan and behavior support plan development, and team and family follow up.
- Conduct assessments assigned: Environmental Observations and Corresponding Reports, Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments, Design (as part of a multidisciplinary team) and draft classroom wide behavior management systems and individualized behavior intervention plans.
- Work effectively with team members, professional and community contacts, school staff and parents, ensuring collaboration and continuity of services across home and community environments.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Behavioral Health, Special Education Zone Director, Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services or designee.
- Travel from site to site and/or perform necessary school visits for the purpose of providing consultation and collaboration for students and families.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
- Master’s Degree in Education, Behavior Analysis, Psychology or related field
- Current, Valid BCBA Certification
- Current LABA Certification or willingness to obtain state licensure
- 3 years experience with at least one as a teacher or ancillary school provider, preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
- Knowledge of state and federal Special Education law, policy, and practices
- Ability and willingness to travel to schools across the district and the Central Office as student needs and duties dictate
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $52,000.00 - $81,500.00 per year
