We are seeking a creative Interior Designer to join our team, an Ithaca home-building firm that specializes in custom building and design. As the Designer you would work hand-in-hand with the on-site building teams to create truly one-of-a-kind projects for wonderful clients. The design work varies per project from entire home plans, to kitchen/bathroom renovations, to unique projects like outdoor saunas! No two projects are alike and the position provides the opportunity to express your creativity and thinking outside-the-box!
In addition, this role offers flexibility to wear multiple hats and double as the Project Coordinator. Beyond the design work, the candidate will also be responsible for material selections and procurement, scheduling material and subcontractor flow, collaborating directly with clients to bring their visions to life, managing a seamless flow between the client, office, and site work to ensure success of the project.

Duties:
- Meet and collaborate with clients to learn of their goals, budget, and style preferences.
- Create detailed plan sets including floor plans, elevations & sections, lighting/switching plans, detail drawings of custom applications, etc.
- Develop in-depth cabinet plans and estimates the line of cabinets the company carries.
- Construct 3D models and renderings to relate your designs in a tangible matter back to the clients.
- Specify material and fixture selection options and present samples and mood boards to the client for feedback.
- Coordinate with the jobsite teams with up-to-date designs, installation instructions, delivery schedules etc. to ensure the smooth flow of progress.
- Order and coordinate delivery for jobsite framing materials, approved finish selections, etc. and coordinate with the vendors to secure the best pricing and timing.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, architects & engineers, and code inspectors to meet project needs.
- Manage projects simultaneously while meeting client expectations and site requirements.
- Establish estimates for overall project budgeting.
- Stay current on industry trends and styles to bring fresh insight to clients and their projects.

Skills:
- Proficient drafter in AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, or equivalent design software.
- Familiarly or experience in 3D modeling and rendering programs to pair with the design is preferred.
- Creative problem-solving and thinking outside the box.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and multi-tasking as there are multiple projects occurring simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Dependable, honest, and hardworking.
- Strong communication skills to effectively present design ideas to clients, provide instruction to the jobsite teams, and coordinate with subcontractors and vendors.
- General knowledge of residential construction components, flow and process.
