AllSTEM Connections has the need for a Senior Technical Support Consultant. This is a 6-9 month contract that has the possibilities of converting to a full time employment position. This position is in Topeka, KS and requires the person to be onsite every day.
Provide oversight, guidance and consultation in the selection and deployment of technology solutions and related maintenance contracts for agency business needs. Review technology solutions requested by the agency to assess architectural alignment, relationship to agency and department goals and objectives.
Coordinate and supervise deployment of a wide range of networking and client\server technologies in support of agency goals, including operating systems and applications. Provides expert level troubleshooting skills for a wide range of technologies. Coordinates troubleshooting initiatives for complicated network\server related issues that may branch across bureau\agencies.
Manage the agency data center, ensuring policies and requirements for physical security, environmental controls, electrical needs are all met.
Special knowledge, skills and abilities
Excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficient with personal computer and associated productivity tools. Ability to work well with others at all organizational and skill levels.
Demonstrated strategic and tactical planning, staff and/or project leadership or management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple significant projects and resources simultaneously. Must have thorough working knowledge of LAN Administration, Storage systems, server and system support knowledge/experience, including Windows server, Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange server, MSIIS, SharePoint, Terminal services, VMWare ESX, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Clustering, antivirus, system cloning, archiving and backup/restore products and technologies.

Three years in information systems and analysis or, in lieu of the education requirement, five years experience in information systems and analysis.
- Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Install and implementation of new hardware and software

Upgrading hardware and software

Following the user guide via the vendor or documentation

Maintain configuration of switches, but they don’t install them

Install servers, add them to the domain, install required software on them

Someone able to implement virtual machines and utilize our networks/VLANS

Patching and updating all hardware and software which will include work station servers, appliances, SANS, Data Domains
