The Small Animal Receptionist shares responsibility between front reception desk and operating phones. This position is mainly 8am-5pm but will be on rotating schedule for the opening shift of 7am-4pm (subject to change).
Front Desk: Assist clients at front counter. Screen client requests, learn and become efficient in explaining policies & procedures, assist clients in getting necessary forms completed, learn and become efficient in patient check-in and check-out, take payments for visits, learn pet food and prescriptions processes, learn and become efficient in answering the emergency call line, answer internal calls and assist in keeping a clean and organized lobby.
Phones: Learn and become efficient in answering incoming calls to the hospital, taking referral information from owners, scheduling appointments, providing general appointment information including estimates, putting in messages for clinicians/students and transferring calls when needed.
In both roles, one must maintain confidentiality at all times per hospital policies, determine urgency of emergencies that enter lobby and use critical thinking to find alternative solutions for upset clients. One must be able to perform a variety of miscellaneous duties as assigned. The possibility exists to be cross trained in Large Animal Reception. Be willing and able to attend monthly staff meetings, back-up shifts for weeknight and/or weekends will be necessary and some holidays will be required.
