The La Paloma Bilingual Therapist is responsible to provide individual counseling, therapeutic groups, and case management for Latino teens and families in identified schools in Lake County as well as providing counseling for Latino teens and families throughout Lake County. Counseling and group work focused on students & families dealing with abuse with the additional challenges of being undocumented. Therapist reports to the Director of La Paloma and works closely with community partners and with all ASP programs.
A Safe Place is a recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization listed under Lake County Crisis Center for the Prevention & Treatment of Domestic Violence Inc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Bilingual Therapist provides individual trauma informed therapy, counseling, support, and trauma informed psychoeducation regarding domestic violence issues using a non-judgmental approach in working with clients
- Conduct assessment and eligibility evaluations to determine client needs.
- Expected to maintain a 60% Direct Client Service Hours workload.
- Required to complete IM+CANS training, the assessment that provides a standardized, modular framework for assessing the global needs and strengths of individuals who require mental health treatment when working with clients.
- The La Paloma Bilingual Therapist develops individual service and safety plans.
- Updating needed forms for caseload during length of caseload.
- Assist in the development of, and utilize, evaluation tools to assess the quality and effectiveness of the enhanced children’s services.
- Creating Needs
- The Bilingual Therapist ensures documentation in client records is appropriate, accurate, timely an in accordance with agency policies and funding requirements.
- Provide information on the Illinois Domestic Violence Act, Orders of Protection and stalking laws to enhance client safety and abuser accountability.
- Available for weekly schedule ranging from 10-6pm/11-7pm and rotating two weekdays of 12-8pm. Additionally, on-call rotating schedule to support Emergency Shelter as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, case management and other training and meetings as requested.
- Attend program events
- Work as a team player in the organization.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling or closely related field is required.
- Full Licensure preferred, LPC or LSW required.
- Fully Bilingual Required.
- Flexibility with schedule to meet the needs of clients and La Paloma staff.
- Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills.
- Experience in providing individual, group, and family counseling.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to be mobile, moving to various offices as needed.
Ability to accept, to understand, and to relate sensitively to people of varied socio-economic, racial, cultural, and experiential backgrounds.

CLASSIFICATION:
Exempt, full-time, salaried employee.
