NATURE OF WORK
An employee in this class performs a large variety of clerical duties involving interaction with other employees and departments. Generally an employee in this class functions as the primary support to an administrator or has considerable knowledge of a technical field. Work typically involves several steps and requires the selection of the most appropriate action within procedural and operational guidelines. Work is directed by precedents or broad policy. The employee may develop procedures for non-technical and non-complex problems and is expected to resolve problems independently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bookkeeper: Performs a variety of general bookkeeping, record keeping, accounting functions, administrative and office clerical duties; and computes, classifies and records numerical data to keep sets of financial records complete.

Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs technical Bookkeeping and fiscal-clerical work at the school level.

An employee will need to be detail-oriented and impose a strong drive for accuracy upon themselves.

The employee must have a keen awareness of their assigned duties and the time management to ensure those duties are completed on time.

The employee must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in dealing with the public and employees on a daily basis.

MINIMUM TRAINING:
18 years of age or older, Minimum high school diploma. Basic secretarial and computer skills necessary; excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Office experience in office practices and procedures preferred. Experience with computer applications and ability to use/manage different software is preferred. Experience in accounting and/or databases preferred. Associate's Degree or equivalent (48 semester hours) from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
