ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A
PAINT HELPER 3 falls into the
medium physical demand category and will report directly to the Lead Painter.
- Displays a positive attitude towards Safety, Quality, Policy and Procedures.

Will gain knowledge of and exercises all of OSHA, Brand and Customer policies at job site.

Participates in the completion of a qualified Job Safety Plan identifying the hazards and risks and implement necessary controls.

Select and use proper PPE as identified on the JSP.
-
Demonstrate proper surface preparation prior to coatings application or abrasive blasting activities. (housekeeping, etc.)

Removes old paint from surfaces using pneumatic tools, hand scraper, wire brushes to prepare surfaces for painting.

Properly prepares pneumatic painting equipment for use.
-
Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other filler using caulking gun and putty knife (e.g. Control room).

Applies coatings to protect interior or exterior surfaces of structures including buildings to the specified thickness.

Paints surfaces using conventional, airless, plural equipment, brushes, or paint rollers.

Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies using proper lift technique and/or lift equipment.

May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces in order to perform work activities.

Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.

Participate in the tool box talk.

Complete other duties as deemed necessary by Supervisor.
Must complete level 1 of Mentoring Program until elevated by Supervisor or Competent Person to next level.

EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM JOB:

PPE (FRC free of holes, Hard Hat, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Safety Boots, respiratory protection, as required, etc.)

Hand tools: Wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, paintbrush, roller, paint scraper, putty knife, and abrasives.

Abrasive Blasting Equipment: Hoses, air compressors, and remote switches.

Pneumatic Equipment: Spray attachments, grinders & buffers with guards, hoses, air compressors, and aerial-lift equipment.

Other: Ladders, scaffold, and swing stage.
OTHER ASPECTS AND DEMANDS OF THE JOB NOT LISTED:
The PAINTER / BLASTER HELPER 3 must be able to prepare a variety of surfaces for the application of paint or finishing products. To apply the appropriate undercoating, mixes finishing product to proper specification, and applies the finish product to the desired thickness. The employee may perform these functions on site or in the company blast yard. Other Painter / Blaster Helper 3 duties may include:

Knowledgeable in the selection and mixing of multi-component products.

Knowledgeable in the use and application of both a wet and dry mil gauge.

Knowledge of quality control checks and inspections.
- Knowledge of material handling techniques.

Knowledgeable of proper surface preparation techniques.
- Perform general laborer duties which pertain to the specific trade.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
High school diploma or GED, preferred.
-
Bilingual Communication preferred.
-
Must pass Brand's skills assessment.
-
Based on to customer requirements, may be able to pass an extensive background check.
NOTE: ALL work performed must be under the direct supervision of a Competent Person at all times.

Competent Person\" is defined as \"one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them\". [ 29 CFR 1926.32(f) ].
COMPENSATION:

Hourly, Non-exempt.

Rate based on project size, complexity, and candidate qualifications and may be adjusted based upon job performance.

Additional compensation (per diem, safety incentives, etc.) available as per project contract.
