FACILITY MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Jerome Environmental Services (JES) is seeking an experienced Anaerobic Digestion Facility Manager or a Facility Manager from a similar process plant background such as wastewater, energy, petrochemical, food processing or agriculture. The Facility Manager is responsible for full operational and administrative oversight at a Renewable Natural Gas Facility which is currently under construction. It includes an anaerobic digestion plant utilizing dairy cow manure to produce renewable natural gas (RNG). This role oversees all process performance and safety, operations personnel, permit compliance and facility budget. This position reports to the Director of Operations and is sited in Wendell, ID.
Essential Skills, Duties And Responsibilities:
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, operations management or vocational school or 5 years of equivalent experience in the renewables gas, electric generation or energy industry preferred.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and excel.
- Team Management in an industrial environment.
- Prepare regular reports with key performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Produce and approve documentation such as standard operating procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and controls, and SCADA systems.
- Familiarity with pumps, compressors, agitators, separators, flares, and gas blowers.
- Must be a self-starter, able to recognize and reconcile issues as they arise at the facility.
- Must be available for scheduled 24/7 on call.
- Ability to perform all assignments and tasks in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Major Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage overall operations to maximize production.
- Supervise and lead all facility staff.
- Arrange for and manage third party contractor support.
- Ensure Preventive Maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot plant issues and make recommendations for improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Implement and maintain environmental compliance and safety programs in accordance with federal, state, and local safety/environmental regulations and Jerome Environmental Services policies and procedures.
- Oversee Operation and Maintenance of processing plant equipment including compressors, engines, motors, switchgear, heat exchangers, pumps, generators, and other ancillary equipment.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track and manage maintenance & permits.
- Develop and implement process control improvements to reduce downtime, optimize production, and maximize production volumes.
Skills Desired:
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in the operation of anerobic digestion (AD) facilities or similar process plant operations.
- Working knowledge of budgets.
- People management skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Familiarity with PLC systems.
- Demonstrate mechanical and electrical knowledge and troubleshooting and repair abilities.
- Natural, landfill or digester gas processing experience preferred.

Salary: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead efforts in commissioning and all activities related to startup of the facility
- Direct daily activities related to the safe and efficient operation of the facility
- Interface with dairy and recommend improvement in processes of collection of manure
- Recruit and manage all operational staff
- Produce and approve documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Prepare regular reports with Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Review and approve operational and capital purchases
- Communicate with regulatory inspectors and/or auditors
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track and manage maintenance & permits
- Prepare and provide staff training on operations and safety
- Provide facility tours and other small presentations
- Coordinate meetings amongst a variety of internal and external partners to achieve goals
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams on a variety of projects
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Minimum 5 years personnel and process plant facilities management experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in the operation of anerobic digestion (AD) facilities or similar process plant operations
- General knowledge of modern dairy practices
- General knowledge of industrial safety required
- Familiarity with instrumentation and controls, and SCADA systems
- Familiarity with pumps, compressors, agitators, separators, flares and gas blowers
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing
- Competent with technology and the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be detail-oriented and able to handle stressful situations
- Must be a self-starter, able to recognize and reconcile issues as they arise at the facility
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, flexible hours, and holidays as required
- Must be available for scheduled 24/7 on call
