Eastway Behavioral Healthcare is the largest, private, not-for-profit provider of mental health, substance abuse, housing, and employment services in the Miami Valley. We are hiring for a Medical Director for Adult Services. Potential candidates must be board eligible.
Eastway’s Adult Recovery Services provides adults with serious and persistent mental illness with traditional Community Mental Health Center services. We approach services to our clients utilizing an inter-disciplinary Team model, which includes Community Support Specialists, Therapy, and Psychiatric Services. Additional services include housing and employment. The Medical Director is a vital component of the team.
Position purpose:
Provides leadership and direction to Adult Psychiatric Services. Responsible for the fiscal and clinical performance of the program. Serves as a member of the agency’s Senior Management Team. Responsible for the development of medical policy and is the ultimate clinical authority for Adult Services.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Supervises psychiatric services including medications, psychiatric examinations, and treatment planning for persons served.
2. Provides supervision to Psychiatrists, Physician’s Assistants, and the Director of Nursing for Adult Services.
3. Ensures that the psychiatry staff are using the approved clinical formulary in prescribing psychotropic medications; reviews and approves changes to the clinical formulary.
4. Develops relationships with academic institutions for the purpose of training and recruitment.
5. Represents the agency in the community, and promotes collaboration in the development of new programs and services.
6. Ensures the quality of Medical Services by participating in relevant quality improvement and service excellence activities.
7. Chairs the Medical Staff meetings.
8. Serves as a member of the Clinical Staff Organization.
9. Formulates policies and procedures that ensure consistent medical practice with Adult Services.
10. Establishes clinical practice standards for the Medical Department in collaboration with the physicians, nurses, and the Quality Improvement Plan.
11. Acts as final authority in client specific diagnostic and treatment plan issues for adult clients.
12. Provides training for Eastway staff in conjunction with the agency training plan.
13. Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned within this job class.
Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
