As a Heavy Equipment Operator, your responsibilities will include driving various equipment to safely load and unload trucks and trailers and move scrap metal for recycling.
To be successful as a Heavy Equipment Operator you should be comfortable operating a variety of machines including front-end loaders, forklifts, skid-loaders, and material handlers. Ultimately, a top Heavy Equipment Operator should be able to ensure the safe movement of scrap metal material.
Basic Responsibilities:

Safely operate industrial heavy equipment including but not limited to skid-loaders, forklifts, front-end loaders, cranes, yard hostlers, etc.

Load material into the acculoader

Hook up to and move container trailers around the yard

Ensure accurate paperwork and picture taking
-
Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure proper operating
- Communicate need for maintenance or repair to the maintenance department

Adhere to safety policies and procedures

Provide exceptional customer service to clients and customers

Any other duties/tasks as assigned
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
2+ years previous heavy equipment operation - excavator and/or front-end loader experience necessary
- Previous experience in a manufacturing heavy industrial environment preferred

Strong work ethic

Logistics experience helpful

Dependability
-
Ability to lift upwards of 50lbs safely on occasion

Able to safely climb in and out of equipment
