TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 Day Position – Full Time

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS
- Current and Valid Illinois Speech Language Pathologist Teaching or Non-Teaching Endorsement.
- Fluent in oral and written Spanish language.
- Master’s degree required from a program accredited by the American Speech-Language Association.
- Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provide support services to elementary school students.
- Coordinates or serves as a member of a diagnostic team and educational planning and placement committee.
- Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balance program for oral communication and speech improvement.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy suggestions for student’s daily activities.
- Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
- Perform casework services with parents as an integral part of assisting students. Increase parents understanding and participation in resolving their child’s needs and informing them of appropriate resources available.
- Responsible for writing and implementing individual education plans and have familiarity with response to intervention.
- Ability to make home visits for the purpose of gathering information on a student’s background and needed interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely records for the purpose of monitoring student progress.
- Assesses student progress towards targets and standards for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration throughout the learning process.
- Communicates and collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes.
- Understanding of various formal and informal assessment strategies and uses them to support the continuous development of students.
- Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the building Principal.
