Responsible for those duties necessary for supporting the medical provider with exceptional care to the obstetrical, gynecological, and surgical patient according to established protocols and guidelines.
25% 1. Triages patients effectively by following established guidelines. Documents patient problem, symptoms, and/or other information received and advise given and/or resolution to the problem/complaint.
20% 2. Facilitates and processes provider's orders (i.e. notification of test results, medication orders, or changes in treatment/medical care, calls in prescriptions, NST's, orders lab tests, diagnostic studies, or other tests/procedures) and assesses patient needs and participates in appropriate patient counseling and education according to established protocols/ guidelines.
20% 3. Performs intake of OB patients including assessment per ACOG standards and documentation of patient information on appropriate medical record forms.
15% 4. Schedules hospital surgeries and procedures per the surgery scheduling practice guideline.
5% 5. Explains, prepares and administers medication under the supervision of the provider and documents appropriately. Orders the medication and obtains authorization when applicable.
5% 6. Assists with office duties which may include tracking, obtaining and processing referrals, follow up appointment scheduling, and filing of reports/results.
5% 7. Uses effective public relations skills when interacting with patients and callers.
5% 8. Maintains and enhances professional growth through continuing education and review of recent literanuture to stay current with OB/GYN standards of patient care.
1. Education: Completion of RN Educational Program.
2. Licensure: Licensed as an RN in the State of Michigan.
3. Experience: Two years of obstetrical and gynecological nursing experience preferred, in office or hospital setting. Prior experience with triage protocols required.
4. Skills: Proficiency in all nursing care procedures within an OB/GYN office. Able to gather data, identify problems, document information clearly and follow through on processes and procedures.
5. Interpersonal Skills: Able to communicate effectively with, and relate to, a diverse patient population in a professional and courteous manner. Able to function as a member of a health care team.
6. Physical Effort: Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. frequently.
7. Hours of Work: Full-time 36-40 hours per week 8:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Flexible and varied
8. Travel: Minimal travel required. Mileage reimbursement in accordance with existing rate of the corporation.
