SUSHI CHEF

With the demand growing for high quality sushi at Griffin Club LA we are looking for an experienced sushi chef to help expand our program and bring it to the next level. We are seeking a fun, enthusiastic and creative individual who has a self-starter attitude and strong work ethic
SUMMARY
Responsible for preparing sushi items for our members in accordance with the Chef’s portioning, recipe, and quality guidelines. Primarily works within the kitchen but may be required to work in front of members for special events. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all sushi prep and storage equipment on a continuous basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Must maintain Griffin Club’s high-quality standards
- Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food items for members and their guests
- Can accurately execute member/guest orders and requests in a timely fashion
- Responsible for ensuring that daily assignments and side work are completed to Club standards
- May be asked to assist fellow co-workers or members with any culinary needs they may have
- Responsible for the completion of additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef and lead cook
- Responsible for possessing clear knowledge of all food outlets on property
- Assist in all aspects of food preparation, organization, rotation, and cleanliness of the kitchen
OTHER RESPONSIBILITES
Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of the job, employees will be expected to help others when the occasion arises. Accordingly, employees may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or directed by management. Employees must adhere to the various company, club and departmental standards of operation and policies.Responsible for maintaining good conduct and safe working habits while in all areas and assuring others are acting safely.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience
- Must have strong knowledge in the preparation of raw fish and seafood
- Must be outgoing
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and as part of a team
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members and employees. Ability to follow instructions well.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral formats.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
California Food Handler Certification.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
This position will be required to work 30 to 40 hours a week.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is usually indoors, in a controlled environment, and in some cases outdoors and experiences a moderate noise level in the work environment.
