Duties:
- Under the supervision of the Irvine R&D EHS Manager, this position will be accountable for establishing, implementing, managing, and supporting safety program requirements for specific engineering/construction projects on the Irvine campus.
- They will serve as a subject matter expert on construction and contractor safety for the local EHS and engineering team.
- Facilitating and coordinating external vendors for construction activities
- Assist with job hazard analysis reviews for assigned projects
- Conduct regular site inspections for compliance and recommendations and provide in a report for management review.
- Communicating with cross functional groups and teams, including project engineers and general contractors.
- Making safety decisions within the project
- Ensuring practices are within compliance with local county, state and company EHS requirements
- Delivering safety training to contract workforce
- Managing/tracking 3rd party construction/maintenance vendor compliance and EHS performance through the site’s approved contractor management compliance system
What are the top 3-5 skills, experience or education required for this position?
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with Health & Safety in the construction industry.
- A thorough understanding of construction materials and construction practices.
- Proficient with the management of high-risk activities including electrical safety, excavation, confined spaces, fall protection, material handling, rigging and crane operations.
- Knowledgeable of California OSHA Construction Industry and General Industry regulations
- Communication and problem solving on cross functional teams which includes engagement with general contractors, sub-contractors, EHS, Facilities and project engineers.
- Computer skills required, knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, MS Teams).
- Experience with contractor management system / application preferred.

- He or she will be working in group settings and individual settings.
- While they will have an office, they will be expected to also engage with project engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors out on the construction jobsite on the Irvine campus.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $85.00 - $88.00 per hour

Experience:
