Reports to: Manager for Food & Nutrition Services
Status: Full-Time; Regular; Non-Exempt
Location: Harlem
Days/Hours: Monday – Thursday, 9:30 am-5:30pm, Friday 8 am – 3 pm
Position Summary:
This individual will be responsible for serving food and assisting with Food Pantry food distribution at The Fortune Society’s Supervised Release Program (SRP) site in the Bronx. Their duties will include adhering to NYCDOMH food handing standards, portioning and serving food, maintaining cleanliness and setup of front of the house area, assisting with cold prep and production as needed. Food pantry duties include assisting clients with food selection, packing food bags, assisting with food pantry inventory, maintaining food pantry storage space, and any other duties needed. The Food Service Worker will also assist with special events and any other food service needs as directed. Travel to Harlem, LIC, or any future Fortune Society kitchen location may be required, depending on the needs of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Replenishing food as needed

Adhering to NYCDOMH Food Codes
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
- NYC Food Handlers Certification required
- Food Protection Certification for Pantry Worker, must be completed within 2 months of hire
- Food Service experience a plus, but not necessary

Strong oral communication skills required;

Ability to work as part of a team;

Ability to follow and carry out directions
- Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, social issues faced by formerly incarcerated men and women; and

Physical Demands:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, be able to lift at least 50lbs and stand for long periods of time as needed.
