The Osage County Sheriff's Office is seeking a full time Jail Administrator. The Jail Administrator performs upper-level administrative tasks in directing the day-to-day operations of the Osage County Detention Center. The Jail Administrator exercises broad responsibility for the management and directing of jail activities, and the job performance of jail staff, especially as they pertain to the custody, discipline, health, and welfare of inmates. The Jail Administrator develops, facilitates, or revises policy and procedures to improve efficiency of jail operations, safety, and security. The Jail Administrator coordinates jail operations with other activities of the Sheriff’s Office, conducting short and long-term planning while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal laws. Recommends and reviews disciplinary actions to be taken against offenders or staff. Consults on security matters with the Operations Officer and Sheriff. Responds on a 24-hour a day basis to major facility unusual occurrences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Must have law enforcement experience (e.g., state police, deputy, or police officer) which must be gained through a Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification OR experience as a military police officer. Supervisory experience in a law enforcement position (state police, deputy, police officer, or military police officer) may substitute for the required specialized experience.
