Scope of Responsibility: To supervise all nursing personnel on assigned shifts and to assist with the delivery of excellent, loving care to all of our residents. To monitor all nursing personnel in the performance of their duties and give timely relevant evaluations of their work. To observe and assess individual resident needs in all areas, including physical, emotional, spiritual and social and to assist in developing care plans to meet those needs. To assist in the initial and ongoing training of nursing staff. To supervise Residential Care and the handling of emergency Retirement Center nursing calls.
Essential Responsibilities:
- To ensure that each resident receives quality care. To attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental and psychosocial well-being in accordance with the comprehensive assessment and plan of care.
- Clock in on time. Listen to report from previous shift. Read 24 hour report and check calendar for scheduled appointments and lab work that needs to be drawn.
- Make assignments of residents, duties and breaks for nursing staff.
- Supervise all nursing personnel on shift monitoring job duties, practices, procedures, behavior and dress code of nursing staff. Also counseling, disciplining staff when necessary according to the facilities employee manual.
- Supervise or administer medications and treatments as ordered. Chart all medications and treatments and PRN results. Sign all medication and treatment sheets. Order medications/treatments as ordered and check them off when they arrive. Unit clerks are not to call initial medication/treatment orders to pharmacy.
- Observe and assess residents needs, call physician when necessary (i.e. nursing concerns, change in condition, loss or weight gain over 5 lbs per month, any accidents or incidents involving residents, questions about any medication or treatment). Receive telephone orders, note correctly and follow through with all new orders.
- Transcribe all physicians orders correctly. Flag all orders for a second nurse to check and initial.
- Make rounds with physicians. Remember to check Pharmacist Medicine Review Nurses Recommendations sheet found on top of most current physician orders on the chart and, Physicians chart audit notebook found at the nurses station for questions/concerns that need to be brought to their attention. Have physician sign all areas flagged for his/her signature.

Qualifications: *LPN with a current Indiana License or GPN or GN with a valid temporary license.
Benefits:
Pay based on experience at $0.25/hour per year up to a maximum of $5.00/hour.
Shift Diff of $1.50/hour and Weekend Diff of $2.00 on Saturdays and Sundays, pick up bonuses may apply.
Refer a friend after 90 days and receive a bonus up to $600 when they stay 90 days, conditions apply.
