The primary purpose of the Medication Aide position is to work collaboratively as part of a neighborhood team leader and a training partner for new staff and current staff to create a supportive environment. Primary responsibilities include delivery of exceptional care in which the care partner provides personal assistance with activities of daily living, life enrichment programs and an exceptional dining experience. The Care Specialist’s role provides continuity of care and can detect even minimal changes with the resident that allows for prompt follow-up to deter negative outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS.
*Must be a certified Medication Aide of the state of Texas or Multi-state. Be in good standing on Texas Nurse Aide Registry and be able to fulfill all qualifications of a Medication Aide. Ability to work as a team leader/train care staff by demonstration of skills. Ability to give and receive messages to and from leadership. Advocate and follow thru on behalf of resident needs. Ability to work a flexible shift, if needed. Ability to build relationships with others. Ability to identify and resolve problems. Ability to assist with, supervise and training of other staff. Ability to work closely with leadership and in a confidential manner. Ability to evaluate and implement the needs of other team members and residents.
Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions in English. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format with residents, families, other care providers and supervisors. Excellent computer skills, ability to utilize electronic documentation.
Knowledgeable of Tribute’s Mission, Vision and Values. Conducts self in a manager that is congruent with the Mission, Vison and Values of Tribute.
Ability to safely care for residents in a patient and respectful manner. Ability to complete assignments while having constant interruptions.
Knowledge of Resident Rights per Assisted Living regulations. Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job. Encouraging residents to maintain their highest possible independence, while maintaining their resident’s rights. Provide care of residents per service plan and facility schedules. Follow facility policy and procedures regarding dining services and assist with feeding as needed.
Assist Care Partners in the care of the residents. Answer call lights immediately. Be alert to resident’s comforts and needs. Answer their requests prompt. Observe all residents and report anything unusual or abnormal to Charge Nurse.
Participate in emergency fire or disaster drills and other in-service training as scheduled.
Participate in departmental meetings and family meetings as directed. Follow Universal Safety Precautions.
Handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.
