JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- EMR experience (AllScripts preferred)
- 1+ year experience as a Medical Assistant in a fast-paced office
- 2+ years experience in Surgery / Medical Appointment Scheduling
- Medical Terminology
- Strong phone etiquette
- Excellent customer service skills
- Detail Oriented
- In depth knowledge of insurance types
- Strong organizational skills
- High School Diploma/GED
- Dialysis experience is a plus
- Spanish speaking highly desirable
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Coordinate and schedule appointments for surgeries and any pre-operative tests as ordered by the surgeon.
- Provide patients with preoperative and postoperative information.
- Function as liaison between surgeon, OR schedule/system, and patient.
- Act as primary contact for patients and respond to telephone inquiries.
- Use the telephone to send or receive communication related to the surgery schedule, relay messages to surgeons or other personnel, and request x-rays.
- Complete paperwork; enter complete data into the computer including Meaningful Use data.
- Crosscheck paperwork for the quality of data entered, presented and produced.
- Prepare the surgical chart with all necessary paperwork; ensure all surgery related work is completed and delivered to the appropriate areas by the designated time.
- Advise patients of fees that may be required and counsel patients concerning their accounts when necessary.
- Understand the medical needs of a dialysis patient.
- Current medical terminology pertaining to chronic renal failure.
- Take calls from patients, answer questions when possible.
- Call patients post op, inquire as to status, schedule post op appointments.
- Schedule new patient appointments.
- Ensures all patient documentation is in the electronic medical record including current insurance, demographic information and the process is complete.
- Communicate with staff members, medical staff and other doctor’s offices in a professional manner.
- Complete accurate charting of patient visits with attention to vital details used for patient care processes and regulatory quality reporting.
- Maintain strong communication with Dialysis partners.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
