We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time School Nurse to join our team and support the health and well-being of our students. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for promoting a safe and healthy environment within the school community.
Under the direction of the school Principal, the accepted candidate is responsible for supporting the Dominican Sinsinawan tradition and the Diocese of Madison in their missions “to educate and guide a diverse student body towards becoming faith-filled global citizens through a rigorous academic curriculum and commitment to truth, compassion, justice, community, and partnership” in a Catholic School environment.
**Responsibilities:**
- Provide comprehensive health services to students, including first aid, medication administration, and health assessments.
- Assess and manage acute and chronic health conditions of students, collaborating with parents/guardians, healthcare providers, and school staff as necessary.
- Conduct health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests, and assist in the maintenance of health records and documentation.
- Educate students, families, and staff on health-related topics, including disease prevention, nutrition, and hygiene practices.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care and support until further assistance arrives.
- Collaborate with school administrators and other healthcare professionals to promote a safe and healthy school environment.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school nursing and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
**Qualifications:**
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current license in the state of Wisconsin
- Current certification in CPR, first aid, and medication administration.
- Previous experience in pediatric nursing or school health services preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with diverse individuals and groups.
- Commitment to promoting the health and well-being of students and fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect within the school community.
**Schedule:**
This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week, typically 4 hours per day, 5 days a week during the school year.
