The Quality Manager is responsible for the food safety and regulatory compliance for goods manufactured in the facility to assure the plant is in compliance with all corporate and customer quality and food safety requirements. Manage Quality Techs across all production shifts.
Major Duties & Responsibilities for this position include:
- Lead and manage plant HACCP and Food Defense teams. Validate systems to assure the program is adequate.
- Manage customer and regulatory agency audits.
- Lead and manage plant response to consumer complaints (consumer insight) including root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Monitor weight control program to assure compliance.
- Generate monthly customer complaints/quality summary.
- Manage HRD program and prepare monthly reports. Disposition defective product.
- Manage all production trials.
- Maintain shelf-life program.
- Use problem solving skills to determine effective corrective action issues.
- Maintain GFSI & organic site certification.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and all food safety and food regulatory requirements. Lead plant GMP audit team.
- Manage customer relationships and assist in building effective partnerships.
- Manage plant pest control and environmental swabbing program.
- Lead traceability exercises and document corrective action
- Maintains operations and quality documentation, files, and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and guidelines.
- Assure annual calibration is conducted.
- Assists in the hiring, training, evaluating, and developing department personnel.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelors Degree + 5 years of experience in quality management in a manufacturing operation.
- Must have food industry experience
- Must be computer literate, be proficient in Excel and MS Office.
- Must be articulate and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Working Conditions:
Time is split between a climate-controlled office environment and the adjoining production area.
Physical Requirements:
Job requires the ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for 7-8 hours per day. Must be able to walk up and down stairs as needed to attend meetings and go to the Production floor if needed. Moderate lifting of up to 25 pounds may be occasionally required.
