Land Morphology is a dynamic, midsized firm based in Seattle specializing in highly designed and detailed projects. The focus of the firm’s work is estates and residential gardens with an emphasis on superb planting design. Other project types include public gardens such as Chihuly Garden and Glass and the Leach Botanical Garden in Portland, Oregon. Current work includes planting design for the Seattle Waterfront as a consultant to Field Operations and design of Yew Dell Botanical Gardens in Kentucky. Prior work includes the new Village Green at University Village in Seattle. We take pride in our technical and design standards and are known in the region for our beautiful planting design. Job Description and Qualifications
Our ideal candidate is a well-rounded, experienced Principal landscape architect who is an amazing designer and desires a leadership role that promotes teamwork and staff growth.
The principal will lead and manage a range of projects and teams, both large and small scale. We offer a hybrid work schedule (three days in the office) and have a colorful and inspirational office in Belltown. This position requires employees to live within commutable distance of the Seattle metro area.
Design work will range from developing initial design concepts through construction administration. Please be comfortable in a fast-paced environment where you will be working on multiple projects concurrently. Qualifications include:
- BSLA/BLA in landscape architecture required.
- 15+ years of applicable experience in a professional setting
- Proven ability to lead people, projects, and consultants
- Interest in firm leadership and marketing strategy
- Experience leading client interactions, facilitating meetings, and presenting
- Strong and creative design skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Prior financial management of projects
- Ability to create project workplans and organize drawing sets
- Familiarity with local codes and experience developing permitting strategies
- Client management experience
- Ability to develop construction details
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD
- Experience supervising, training, and mentoring junior team members
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Desire to work collaboratively with others
- Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills
