Job Overview:
Responsible for facilitating the operations of an industrial engine repair facility, directing shop mechanics and other departments as required. Responsible for assisting in meeting organization’s financial goals. Includes activities such as customer communication, back-office support, managing processes, material management, problem solving and logistics. This position is part of management and a leadership role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Supervisor demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment.
In the role of Machine Shop Supervisor, you will:
- Utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
- Maintain care, custody, control, and safe operation and maintenance of a shop, equipment and staff.
- Establish and sustain a culture that promotes a safe and positive work environment.
- Assure environmental, health and safety compliance.
- Develop, document and implement quality procedures and systems for shop personnel to operate and maintain the shop in a safe and effective manner.
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate an effective workforce and delegate / monitor work activities for safe and efficient facility operation.
- Hire, evaluate, and monitor work activities of contractors / subcontractors for maintenance and repair activities for facility equipment.
- Meet revenue, profitability, utilization and budget targets.
- Manages the consumable inventory to adequate levels so as to not interrupt production.
- Implement processes and programs to continually improve efficiency and delivery.
- Troubleshoot of various shop equipment and completed engines during test run.
- Partner with HR to resolve any employee related concerns/issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Engineering from an accredited university or college preferred (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in a support or field engineering role)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a management role
- Experience building engines and leading a team of builders is required
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to walk or sit for up to 8 hours continuously
- Ability to set and meet aggressive targets
