Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Operations, the Assistant Director of Applications and Processing will manage the evaluation of all first year, transfer, and non-degree applications within the Undergraduate Admission department. The Assistant Director will be responsible for onboarding and training all new staff and seasonal application readers on the admission evaluation process and allocate application batches for initial review. The Assistant Director will be responsible for evaluating non-degree, special program and scholarship applications, will serve on the Admissions Committee to conduct final application reviews, and will support the processing team as necessary.
The Assistant Director:
1. Hires and onboards seasonal application readers and trains all new seasonal application readers and admission counselors on application evaluation process
2. Makes decisions on applicant files and serves on Admissions Committee.
3. Understands offerings and differences in grading and academics at schools in assigned territory to inform admission decisions and advising recommendations.
4. Determines appropriate major for students based on interests, grades, transferable credits and future goals.
5. Adjusts calculated advising indicators for student academic preparedness based on academic and soft skills gleaned from essays and letters of recommendation.
6. Selects students for scholarship interviews and special programs.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
This role will be required to work with internal and external constituents and is expected to maintain a high level of customer service throughout.

This position will require a flexible work schedule, including some nights and weekends.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
A minimum bachelor’s degree is required. 2 or more years of experience in admissions and application processing, college admissions, and/or other customer service organizations is required.
Knowledge & Skills
Experience working CRM application management processes and systems including but not limited to AY application systems, Salesforce, TargetX, Slate, and ERPs, including Banner for an educational institution.
Proven ability to work independently, excellent communication and presentation skills, sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of diverse constituencies, and managing goals.
Ability to multi-task and handle a wide variety of job duties and prioritize based on the supervisory direction.
The candidate will need to be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
This role reports up to Associate Director of Operations and is responsible for managing 4-6 seasonal application readers.

Application Evaluation Management - Hire and onboard 4-6 seasonal application readers each year
- Train all new application readers on first year, transfer, and international evaluation process and standards, including admission counselors and seasonal readers. Ensure that all application readers have access to the appropriate technology and systems needed to evaluate applications
- Allocate batches for initial review and ensure that application readers are completing reviews within administered timelines
- Create and monitor daily reports to track team productivity and quality checks
- Conduct ongoing professional development opportunities for seasonal staff
- Attend weekly funnel meetings with Undergraduate Admission leadership to monitor enrollment funnel
- Serve on Admissions Committee to conduct final reviews
- Support application readers by evaluating applications when necessary throughout cycle
