REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1+ years mental health billing experience.
- Understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes for Mental Health Reimbursements and Billing.
- Knowledge of mental health terminology and HIPAA compliance.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Excellent customer service and phone etiquette.
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems.
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn new methods and processes.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and staff.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills; be able to communicate in a clear, constructive, and professional manner.
- Reliable and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in working with electronic health records (EHR).
- Familiarity dealing with pre-authorization and appeals processes.
DUTIES:
- Verify insurance and eligibility.
- Enter all billing and payment information into the system properly and without errors.
- Enter electronic and paper billing with current CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Timely follow through and follow up on claims/denials/appeals/patient statements.
- Accurately analyzing and posting of insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
- Keep Management Updated: Relay vital information in the form of timely and accurate reports.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all patient matters as per HIPAA regulations.
- Entering payments, insurance authorizations, identifying out-of-network patients and optimizing the payment of co-pays and/or deductibles.
