Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Pay Rate: $25-$35/hour
Job Site Location: Downtown Los Angeles
Job Site Status (Remote/Hybrid/Onsite) – Our client has a hybrid schedule with one (1) day of remote work.
Duration of Assignment: At least six (6) months
Addison Group Los Angeles, in partnership with our entertainment client located in Downtown Los Angeles, seeks a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their team on a direct hire basis.
Job – The hired Senior Payroll Specialist will be performing payroll processing for over three hundred (300) employees while other members of the payroll team will be involved in software implementation. You will be reporting to the Payroll Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PAYROLL SPECIALIST
Payroll Processing
· Complete weekly review of time entries and time off entries; follow up on payroll slip discrepancies
· Process one-time payments for employees
· Process payrolls, including validating and reconciling payroll data to ensure accurate payroll payments, reporting, and records
· Validate all salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
· Process all new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
· Intake all employee’s questions on paychecks, direct deposits, and other general payroll questions
· Troubleshoot all discrepancies with payroll issues (paychecks, tax deductions, vacation and sick day accruals, and other payroll issues)
· Prepare input templates for new hire, termination, job changes and all other payroll changes for submission to in-country payroll providers monthly
· Distribute payrolls checks and other payroll documentation to employees
· Respond to employee inquiries on pay calculation, benefit deductions, and PTO days
Payroll Reconciliation
· Reconcile monthly payroll clearing accounts against the General Ledger (G/L)
· Validate Human Resources Workday new hire and termination entries
Miscellaneous
· Organize Human Resources source documents electronically for current and future payroll processing to coincide with payroll processing schedules for bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls
· Research and respond to audit responses for supporting documentation as requested
· Provide support to the payroll team members and assist with projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PAYROLL SPECIALIST
Required
· At least three (3) years of payroll experience
· Multi-state payroll experience
Preferred
· Excellent attention to detail
· Experience handling confidential employee details
SKILLS OF THE PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Technical
· Advanced level Excel (VLOOKUP’s and formulas)
Interpersonal
· Good research and analysis skills
· Can work with minimal supervision
