Hampstead Hill Academy (HHA) is a public charter school serving over 900 students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. Operated by the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP), HHA is located in southeast Baltimore City. Our student population reflects the rich diversity of the neighborhood: approximately 40% Hispanic, 38% White, 17% African American, 4% two or more races, and 1% Asian. HHA is committed to hiring a faculty that is reflective of our student population.
Our high expectations for rigor are supported by data-driven curricula, culturally responsive instruction, a full team of academic coaches, and regular professional development. HHA is a high-performing school and was the only Baltimore City elementary and middle school to receive a five-star rating in 2018 by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). In 2019 and 2022, we continued as the highest-rated elementary and middle school in City Schools. The State of Maryland designates HHA as having Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (eGATE). Our students gain admission to the most selective public high schools in the district including Baltimore City College High School, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Western High School, and the Baltimore School for the Arts, as well as many private schools like Calvert Hall College High School, Mount Saint Joseph High School, Mercy High School, Notre Dame Preparatory School, and Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
We are looking for an individual who can teach three, 90-minute classes of math to 32 8th grade students per class per day. Two classes cover Algebra I content and one class covers 8th Grade Math content. Our current math teacher will be taking paternity leave and we are looking for coverage during that time. Lesson plans and teaching resources will be provided; however, successful candidates will be able to take ownership of the curriculum to plan engaging and rigorous lessons. We are seeking teachers who are reflective, collaborative, open to growth, strong communicators, and have diverse experiences. We are interested in candidates who engage students, value diversity, implement rigorous curricula, frequently analyze and reflect on data, and are passionate about teaching. This temporary position would be best suited for former/retired teachers and professors of mathematics.
Job requirements: Spanish language fluency is preferred for all positions. Compensation and a generous benefits package are determined by the Baltimore Curriculum Project, our charter operator. Successful candidates are hired by the Baltimore Curriculum Project. Interested candidates may send a cover letter and resume detailing their current certification, preferably via email, to:
