Ebenezer Park is a 26-acre park located north of Rock Hill on the shores of Lake Wylie’s 13,443-acre lake that borders both North and South Carolina. Ebenezer Park offers a wide variety of day use recreational opportunities and overnight stays in one of our 82 RV campsites and 5 tent sites. Allison Creek Park is a 160-acre park located on the shores of Lake Wylie. Allison Creek offers guests a wide variety of day use recreational opportunities including 4 boat ramps, a kayak/canoe launch, a fishing dock, 3 miles of trails, a playground, and picnic shelters. The newly established campground at Allison Creek has 33 full hook-up RV campsites and 16 primitive tent sites that can be booked for overnight stays in the park.
We excited to hire a full-time Park Ranger to join our team within the Parks and Recreation Department! This position will support both Ebenezer and Allison Creek parks. In this position, you will be responsible to assist in planning parks and recreation programs and projects and in developing, coordinating, and overseeing park operations; to patrol County parks and enforce rules and regulations for the protection of the parks, visitors, and wildlife; to maintain a safe visitor and employee work environment; and to perform related administrative and supervisory work as required.
Projected Hiring Range: $20.20 - $25.25 per hour depending on experience and education.
Location: Position will work between Allison Creek and Ebenezer Park on a rotation basis and other parks if need arises.
Work Schedule: Position works a rotating schedule that includes weekends, evenings and all spring and summer holidays. Park is staffed from 7am until 11pm 365 days a year.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules for seasonal staff; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.

Assists with camper and shelter reservations/cancellations; oversees park shelter reservation process; collects and records all revenue; maintains records of park attendance and permits issued.

Responds to public inquiries, requests for assistance, and complaints regarding department policies and programs, including explaining park rules and regulations to guests.

Controls Park access, including opening, closing, and monitoring traffic through the park gates.

Records, compiles, and maintains daily records of all fees and visitor information collected.

Performs general clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering the telephone, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, and processing mail.

Performs retail operation of a park store, including the selling, stocking, and maintaining of proper inventory.

Patrols Park grounds and inspects facilities for security and safety and takes appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all staff and citizens and the protection of County property.

Supervises and participates in the maintenance of park grounds and buildings, including but not limited to installing landscape materials, mowing grass, removing tree limbs and trees, raking/removal of debris, removing refuse and maintaining recycling procedures, painting structures and furnishings, performing carpentry work, performing custodial work, and performing basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance and repair work. Additionally, responsible for the maintenance of sewer lift station.

Orders and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment as needed.

May work in the gatehouse to relieve workers for breaks/absences.

Assists at times with traffic control.

Performs related work as assigned.
Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or related field.
-
Two (2) years of experience with parks and recreation programming.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
-
Valid state driver’s license.

Must possess CPR certification, First Aid Certification, BBP certification, AED Certification.
Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Physical Demands:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
