EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current Occupational Therapy licensure required. (Employees hired after January 1, 2003)
2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
3. Graduate of a Bachelor’s or Masters Occupational Therapy Program required.
4. Certification with the National Occupational Therapy Certification Board (AOTCB), preferred.
5. Minimum six months experience preferred. New graduates may be considered.
JOB DUTIES
- Utilizes the professional practice process in patient care.
- Collects direct data and data assessment of the patient’s condition and stability, which may include musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and cardiopulmonary systems. Supervises indirect data collection of assigned personnel.
- Identifies biophysical, environmental, self-care, educational, spiritual and discharge needs of the patient as evidenced in the patient’s record.
- Completes a comprehensive initial assessment and ongoing reassessment of the patient’s condition and stability and determination of Occupational Therapy diagnosis.
- Bases decisions on facts, clinical reasoning and sound judgment; seeks assistance when necessary.
- Maintains all necessary documentation and records in a legible, accurate and complete manner.
- Sets patient care priorities appropriately. Assigns patient care activities to appropriate personnel based on skills and abilities within the job description, scope of practice and level of competency.
- Demonstrates knowledge of patient rights, bio-ethical standards and legal aspects of consents; serves as a patient advocates.
- Performs patient evaluation and administers treatment.
- Designs and revises plans of care and goals.
- Provides written and/or verbal reports to physicians.
- Documentation is complete and timely, and meets unit standards and regulatory requirements.
- Completes accurate charge sheets for patients treated and submits them daily.
- Obtains physician order for evaluation and treatment. Ensures proper authorization is obtained, when required, prior to treatment.
- Instructs patients and/or family in appropriate home program.
- Provides instruction, and delegates to aides and occupational therapy assistants, new employees, students, and volunteers.
- Collaborates with other professional disciplines to plan, implement, evaluate and revise the plan of care and discharge plan for each patient as evidenced in the patent’s medical record. The plan of care is discussed with and developed as a result of coordination with the patient/family/significant other, when appropriate.
- Is responsible for the evaluation of the patient’s response to treatment and effectiveness of the plan of care.
- Imitates appropriate action when there is a sudden adverse development or significant change in stability. Demonstrates the ability to assume a leadership role in emergency/crisis situations.

Pay: $42.52 - $58.86 per hour
