Where you will work:
Clearwater Paper’s Las Vegas facility produces through-air-dried (TAD) ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, facial tissue, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Boasting over 200 talented employees, the Las Vegas location sits on 23 acres and uses state-of-the-art technology, automation, and a variety of equipment such as laser-guided vehicles. Located within the Mojave Desert, North Las Vegas sits just northeast of Las Vegas as the 4th largest city in the state of Nevada. The city offers an extensive park and recreation program including 34 parks that cover more than 475 acres of developed parkland. Recently completed Southern Nevada’s Neon to Nature regional trail system includes 10 miles used for hiking, biking, and leisurely strolls. North Las Vegas offers several opportunities for social and civic involvement including Three Square Food Bank, the Salvation Army, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, and Clark County 4H. North Las Vegas offers a strong K-12 school district (Clark County School District) including 5 high schools and several elementary and middle schools. What you will do:
Leadership
- Owns the shift: People, people safety, quality, production (escalation process).
- Ownership of all hourly employees on shift.
- Operators report directly to them, exception is maintenance.
- Strong floor presence to engage workforce.
- Serves as first point of contact for employee needs/resources.
- Priority is Team development; ensure training compliance & Qual card completion.
- Owns attendance and scheduling of team members & Manpower.
- Daily payroll / Kronos execution.
- Owns performance management and disciplinary processes (expectations/accountability).
- Support other departments during off shift.
- Manage and communication appropriate shift reports.
- Involvement in new hire process (selection & placement).
- Instructs and leads crew in safe work practices in pursuit of zero injuries.
- Provides information and training on OSHA rules and regulations and additional site procedures.
- Provides information and training for crew on all equipment and processes in area of responsibility.
- Maintains personnel records and executes performance evaluations on employees.
- Assigns tasks and follows up with crew when necessary to ensure that work is completed on schedule.
- Identifies and corrects any potential problems (troubleshooting) and takes appropriate action necessary to prevent serious equipment failure.
- Leads crews to improve processes by identifying and eliminating nonvalue added activities (waste).
Production Quality
- Recognize and correct equipment problems to minimize downtime and maximize production.
- Meet or exceed budgeted production levels.
- Assist in and support development of new procedures and guidelines that will improve production and quality.
- Plan and execute the effective use of resources.
- Identify possible cost savings.
- Ensure quality of processes and production.
Safety and Environmental
What you will need:
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of industry experience.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- Troubleshooting skills and initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must have good organizational and computer skills.
- Must be self-motivated and energetic.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
- Production environment with exposure to dust, dirt, temperature extremes, and chemicals.
- Area required personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, hearing protection and safety glasses.
- Some office environments.
- Requires bending, walking, climbing in and around trailers, machinery and equipment.

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors.
