Essential Functions of the position are detailed below, and include any physical requirements below that.
1. Provides support services to assist refugee children and their parents from various regions of the world, in their process of adjustment into a new school environment.
2. Enrolls or assists in enrolling the child in school within 30 days of arrival to the United States. Evaluates student's progress according to the contract.
3. Provides an orientation to the parents regarding the United States educational system. Serves as a liaison between teachers, parents and students.
4. Coordinates or conducts parenting classes for refugee resettlement clients.
5. Plans, prepares and conducts after school program activities for refugee students once per week as well as coordinating field trips throughout the school year and plans and coordinates a child's summer program.
6. Recruits and monitors home tutors for refugee students.
7. Maintain files according to agency and funder guidelines. Prepares monthly statistical report on direct services to clients.
7. Collaborates with internal and external resources in order to provide optimal service delivery.
8. Networks with community groups and other external organizations in order to provide additional resources to clients as it relates to the education and well-being of the child and parent.
9. Foreign Language proficiency to meet the needs of the program.
10. May be required to work beyond normal business hours in order to meet the needs of the clients.
